1982 Roald Dahl's Poem

The poem starts with a hungry wolf, desperate for a decent meal, he finds and eats poor grandmamma, swallowing her in one big bite. Unfortunately, Grandmamma was rather small and tough, leaving the wolf still hungry and dissatisfied, he searches for a second helping. Realising that the grandmother had a granddaughter, the wolf decides to wait for her to come and visit. The wolf dresses himself in the grandma’s clothes and waits not long until Red Riding Hood arrives.

Little Red Riding hood entered and saw her grandmother sitting in her chair and looking rather different, surprised, she quizzes her on her big eyes and ears and fur. The wolf asks why the girl had not asked about his teeth but said it doesn’t matter as he’s going to eat her anyway. Little Red Riding Hood just smiles, pulling a pistol from her knickers and with three great bangs she shoots the wolf dead.

A few weeks later, the girl is seen walking through the woods once more, this time, no red cloak on her head. She smiles and said “Hello and do please note, my lovely wolf skin coat”.
